Hiya! Mod here again! So, as of now our little roleplay blog thingy is about a third of the cast of THH, but that left me to wonder if there are maybe more roleplay blogs out there!

Like, I would really love the get to include more characters cuz that can be fun! So, if you are a THH roleplay blog (or have been thinking of making one) just respond! Rn I think there's a Byakuya (me), Makoto (@the-ultimate-hope-naegi), Leon (@ask-leon-kuwataa), Chihiro (@ask-chihiro-fujisaki14-roleplay) and Sayaka (@p0ps3ns4t10n)

How's this for unintentional: ego and how it manifests in geeks is a running Ch.3 theme.

Hifumi is a geek who on the surface is totally self-accepting...honestly to a fault, since it gives him a pronounced arrogance ("the Alpha and the Omega", anyone? To say nothing of the inner thoughts he has in his Trigger Happy Heart event in School Mode). But Alter-Ego exposes his true vulnerabilities. He falls in love with it as a result and comes to hate "Kiyondo" out of possessive jealousy, and so Celeste is able to manipulate those feelings.

Taka is the opposite from Hifumi: he is not self-accepting because he is all too ready to find fault in himself that he must strive to correct. He is harshly critical of others, yes, but the harshest criticism is always reserved for himself whenever he feels he's screwed up. It's a different form of ego problem he has: the ego of a perfectionist who wears his vulnerabilities on his sleeve and fixates so hard on the idea of being a hard worker whose effort will be rewarded that anything to the contrary of that idea sends him spiraling. That's why he is mentally shattered by the loss of Mondo, since he considers it to be his failure to save him. And in an effort to help him, Alter-Ego accidentally makes things worse, as he becomes "Kiyondo" over the misguided view that carrying Mondo's spirit within him is his burden to bear and will make him a stronger person, which is what causes him to clash with Hifumi.

Last but not least is Taeko Yasuhiro, who like Taka is super critical of herself and like Hifumi uses arrogance as a cover...but in both cases, she has it much worse and is thus more dangerous. Her response to her self-loathing isn't to make herself (Taeko) better, but to make herself into a completely different person whom she perceives to be better. And unlike Hifumi who is able to drop his ego to reveal vulnerabilities, Taeko is pathologically obsessed with not doing that since it's completely out of character for the "Celestia Ludenberg" persona she's fabricated and embraced living as. Thus the ego of Celeste consumes and destroys Taeko.

And the lynchpin that makes all three of them collide? Alter-Ego.

God, it's a shame Ch.3 wasn't better written, as there is some good shit here.

Nahhh why does this shit sound so relevant to Celeste and her talent/murder plan.

Also, it strangely ties pretty well with what we know about Toranosuke’s (Taka’s grandfather) scandal.

Both of them represented two people who were gifted with a great power since birth, but used it improperly and ended up hurting others in the process, causing their own downfall.

Perhaps there was another layer on why the writers decided to pick these two as Celeste’s victims.

Hifumi and Kiyotaka surprisingly have a lot in common, at least in relation to their ultimates and the way they act based on it.

Like, it’s hinted that they both want to use their respective talent in a way that is beneficial to others and make them more likeable in their peers’ eyes.

Yamada found comfort in the world of fanfiction/fan content as a way to connect and develop friendships with people who share similar interests, he also dreams of writing a story one day that will touch people’s hearts and spur their creativity in the same way Princess Piggles did for him, while Ishimaru has got his whole philosophy centred around hard work, which will certainly reveal itself as beneficial to those ones who had the misfortune of having life experiences similar to his own.

And then we have Celeste, a girl who ended up growing up with an immense amount of luck. She is incredible greedy, and while we can’t say that she’s pure evil, since she struggled a lot with self-acceptance and pretty much was living through the lie she herself created, it’s clear that she prioritises her own selfish desires and won’t really mind abusing/manipulating those around her to gain what she wants.

It’s a bit sad that these parallelisms weren’t really discussed in the main story. It would have been so much more interesting instead of seeing… Hifumi and Kiyotaka being horny the whole chapter for a computer lol.
